Welcome to Congregation Agudath Achim and our family.  The following are some membership guidelines which may interest you:

The objective of this Congregation is to establish and maintain a synagogue with educational, religious, social, and recreational activities to help further the causes and objectives of the synagogue and Conservative Judaism.

IN GENERAL

Congregation Agudath Achim employs a full-time rabbi, Rabbi Foster Kawaler; a part-time Secretary, Laura Harris; and a full-time Custodian, Carnell Smith. The Rabbi is available whenever he is needed; the office is open from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and the custodian is present for all events taking place in the synagogue.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES
Erev Shabbat services - Friday evenings, 8:00 PM
Shabbat services - Saturday mornings, 9:45 AM
All Jewish holidays are the same schedule.  
Shabbat services are followed by an Oneg Shabbat, or social hour. In addition, we will arrange, on request, a minyan for mourners and those observing Yahrzeit to say Kaddish. Services are conducted in Hebrew and English, conforming to Conservative practice.

FACILITY
We have an attractive sanctuary, a well-designed Education and Activities wing, as well as a well-equipped kosher kitchen. Our Social Hall is utilized for many congregational and community programs and events. It is also available to our members for private functions such as weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvah receptions and other occasions. A schedule of fees for use is set by the Board of Directors.

PROGRAMMING
Our synagogue presents quality programming for all ages. Adult events such as movies, panel discussions on subjects ranging from current issues to local, state and national politics to visiting scholars and speakers. Highlighted are special programs for the entire congregation on various festivals. 

MEN'S CLUB
The Men's Club is an integral part of our Congregation. They sponsor activities which bring together our men and their families for social and cultural events and add to communal life. The Club supports our youth with camp and convention scholarships and gives direct financial and leadership support to the Congregation.

SISTERHOOD
The Agudath Achim Sisterhood is a strong auxiliary organization joining together in a full and active program of social and cultural activities. The Sisterhood has regular meetings, usually with an interesting luncheon program format. It conducts study and discussion groups that meeting the homes of members. The Sisterhood maintains a fully stocked Gift Shop, sponsors a Community Seder on the second night of Pesach and promotes special programs for our youngsters on other holidays and festivals.

EDUCATION
Agudath Achim provides a weekday Hebrew School at the synagogue and Sunday School is held in conjunction with B'nai Zion Congregation, located on Southfield Road. The curriculum includes Hebrew prayers, modern Hebrew, Jewish history, Bible, Jewish customs and ceremonies, current events and holidays . Complete Bar / Bat Mitzvah and Confirmation programs are a regular part of our youth education.
We also provide adult Hebrew classes for those who want to learn Hebrew or wish to improve their existing level of fluency.
